1. Who we are

This policy covers pollen.today, a pollen forecast service for Europe operated by SimpleMeteo.

2. What data is processed

IP-based geolocation

When you first visit the site, your IP address is processed server-side using the IP2Location LITE database to determine your approximate location for the pollen forecast. The IP address is not stored, logged, or transmitted to any third party.

Analytics

We use Simple Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service based in the Netherlands (EU). It collects no personal data, sets no cookies, and does not track individual visitors. Only anonymous, aggregated metrics (page views, referrers, browser type) are recorded.

Local preferences

Your language and allergy profile preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Pollen API requests

When you view a pollen forecast, your selected location's coordinates (latitude/longitude) are sent to Open-Meteo and the CAMS air quality API to retrieve pollen and weather data. No personal information is included in these requests.

3. What we do NOT collect

We do not use cookies. We do not require user accounts or authentication. We do not collect names, emails, or phone numbers. We do not track individual users across sessions. We do not sell or share any data with advertisers or third parties.

4. Cookies

pollen.today sets no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, and no advertising cookies.

5. Third-party services

  • Open-Meteo / CAMS — Pollen and weather data provider. Receives only location coordinates. No personal data.
  • Simple Analytics — Privacy-first analytics. Based in the EU. Collects no personal data. No cookies.
  • IP2Location LITE — Local IP geolocation database. IP is processed server-side only, never transmitted externally.
  • Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection. Routes traffic through its network. Does not set cookies in our configuration. See Cloudflare privacy policy.

6. Your rights (GDPR)

Since we do not store personal data in any database, most GDPR data subject rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability) are not applicable. If you have questions, contact us via the link below.

7. Children

This website is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly process personal data from children.

8. Changes

If our data practices change materially, this page will be updated before those changes take effect.
